Yes, it has happened plenty of times. In my opinion the cons outweigh the pros, but candidates are typically starstruck by the possibility of an immediate raise.

2. More of your time may have to be written down
3. You won't have time to develop/make significant progress on your business case for making partner
4. You won't have time to develop enough relationships within the firm to get the votes
