I need a name for this one weird trick
What should we call when an associate just doesn't do a stupid assignment that they know the partner will never ask for again?

"taking ownership"
"workflow management"
"simplifying your workload"
"have a call into the client to clarify"

non-billable work is different from billable work.DELG wrote:I have a pile of file folders with incomplete nonbillable bullshit that says otherwise.Biglaw_Associate_V20 wrote:"about to be shitcanned"
partners want you to bill. that's your purpose in life. when they ask you to do something, they're not actually asking you to do a good job. they want you to BILL so they can make MONEY (and, secondarily, produce at least satisfactory-level work so they don't have to do anything).
at least, that's how it is at my firm.

Also, maybe called the staredown and flinch. Also 1000 posts bitch!
Also, the old artificial inflation of demand by creating the illusion of scarcity. AKA, the long line at the empty club. Aka that reminds me of something I should be doing.
