Just so others don't have to do the math:

As of May 13, to be exactly on track to bill 2000 hours, you should have billed 723 hours.

To be on track to bill 2500, you should have billed 904.

May 13:

Billable: 1075 (about 25 is pro bono which still counts)

Non-billable: 65 (lot of this is fun client event, Biz Dev stuff, not exactly strenuous)

First year, west coast

EDIT: My hero, Sea Locust, whose advice I have followed all through law school and beyond, is just barely beating me it looks like.

FWIW, out of all the contests imaginable, this may well be the one I am least excited to be winning.

It's been a slow year so far, so I expect to find a pink slip and a banker's box in my guest chair any day now.

Some of the hours in here conflict with my worldview as a 1L. Don't know why you guys don't just politely turn down work you know?

No but seriously DF this is actually really helpful. For your occasional shit posting, you add some really good stuff to this site and I value the perspective you share (and your ability to get others to share their perspective). Thanks.

Secondary market tax.

637 billable and pro bono combined (stuff I get credit for); 60 non-billable (marketing etc., no credit but it looks good).

But our year also does not start in January, and I had a busy December, so I am on track to at least be within spitting distance of our target.
