Moving expense reimbursement
Have a summer associate position in a General Counsel's office (yes, they call it a summer associate) this summer which is paid and they offer a moving allowance "to help [me] get out x city" for the summer. Does anyone have past experiences with getting these allowances - i'm sure it varies with each employer.
I thought i would get it pre-employment since my offer letter was vague on it - but in talking with the HR they told me I would receive it as soon as possible after starting my employment. Since i'm paid bi-Weekly, i assume this means with my first paycheck? Anyone have insight/clues on this?

What exactly are you asking about. Seems like you have all the details.

this - are people generally reimbursed during their first paycheck, or is it before that? Trying to budget out my first few weeks and knowing when this arrives helps with that budgeting.

A lot of firms and businesses will reimburse you as a separate item. It often works in a similar manner to how you are reimbursed for travel expenses to callback interviews.

that's kinda what i figured but wasn't sure and I didn't want to press the issue with HR since i asked already and they just said as soon as practicable.UVAIce wrote:A lot of firms and businesses will reimburse you as a separate item. Already did - they said as soon as practicable - when asking for clarification they never clarified - just said as soon as practicable.
