Help with Attorney Website

Post by Anonymous User » Sat May 03, 2014 2:32 pm

I'm looking for feedback (good/bad/ugly) on my website: http://www.cpollardlaw.com. I'm getting decent Google rankings but am looking to convert more clients. Thanks in advance.

To be honest, the color scheme isn't very appealing. Also, you should get an e-mail @your.com - a gmail account seems a bit unprofessional.

Other than that it looks alright.

Full disclosure I am a graphic designer and thus biased, but you should just hire a professional to do your website for you. This is really not bad at all for someone who just made their own website (I assume that's what's going on), but you can tell it's not professionally done. There are a lot of issues here.

Why the massively long homepage? Why is your drop down menu at the "bottom" of your massively long homepage?

I agree with this (and I am not a graphic designer, just a guy who uses the internet). As a young solo lawyer I think you are fighting an uphill battle against a presumption of being sort of fly-by-night. This website isn't terrible by any means but it looks a bit cheap, for lack of a better word, and that doesn't inspire a lot of trust. It also looks engineered with an eye toward SEO, which you probably have to do to some extent, but it appears a bit spammy to the eye.

If you don't do that, I agree with removing the gmail address, and as a general comment I would streamline things heavily.

Also what is your association with "Jenkins Block & Associates" -- are you a lawyer there or what? That line in your bio raises questions.

Not terrible, but I second the "rethink the sizing" critique. I think you can stand to have less of the "sell" on your front page, and save it for the individual types-of-cases pages. IMO, the front page should be the hook to snag a potential client's attention. Once you got them interested in what you're selling, they can find the applicable section that they need. Otherwise, you're asking them to wade through that front page text and find something. For example, someone interested in a social security claim has to find it all the way on the bottom and wade through worker's comp and personal injury fluff to find it.

The Personal Injury picture is a semi-truck. Surely you can find something better. And its not the same size as the other two pictures (slightly taller).

Format-wise, I'm not sure what you're going for with the text. You have some words bolded, and others not. You have some bolded statements in gray text and others in black. Maybe there's a rhyme or reason to it, but it's not immediate apparent.

If you reduce the size of the name of the firm, you can have more room for information in the center. That picture of those dudes chilling on the gazebo or whatever on the pier is useless webpage real estate. A mouseover menu with your three practice areas (worker's comp, ss, and pi) can easily a horizontal menu that displays some of your selling points as the user clicks over them.
