Question about transcript for summer firm

Post by timmyd » Mon Apr 14, 2014 8:09 pm

The firm I'm summering at (mid law not big law) has requested an updated transcript. The problem is that I got a b- in a substantive four hour class. I also got an a+ in a substantive four hour class....I'm worried that the firm will revoke their offer after seeing the b-. Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm probably just being paranoid but I really need the cash/experience this summer and would be devastated if they pulled back.

Was it a lit class or corp class? Which are you doing?

The class was transaction oriented and I also plan on working on transactional matter this summer. I should point out, however, that the firm is not big law so there are not really designated practice groups...I will likely do a little of trans and lit. My gpa is still decent (3.5), but the grade just looks awful and out of place with the others on my transcript. Because the class was an important one and related to my desired area of practice, I am worried.

You better be in tip top shape for your Summer. Do you have Allen Edmonds shoes?

haha no...maybe I need to get some. I appreciate your humor...like I said, I'm probably just paranoid, but I had to get shot down like 100 times before I landed this gig and I really don't want to mess it up.

It shouldn't be a problem, especially if your grades balanced out. Everyone knows law grades can be capricious. I don't know anyone who didn't have one big outlying grade.
