CA/DC IP market primer?

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Apr 12, 2014 11:11 am

Quick background: due to a combination of circumstances, I need to begin applying to law firms before I actually matriculate at law school, and I feel uninformed about the legal markets that I am interested in. I will be participating in a 2-year program, and I need to bid/send resumes to firms for an IP job fair by the end of April. I would like to work in either CA or DC after graduation in 2016. I have some knowledge of the DC market, but very little about the CA market. If it's relevant, I have solid IP credentials particularly in medical technologies. I have significant experience in prosecution, but I am also interested in litigation work.

I am mostly looking for information about leading CA firms (IP boutiques or firms with strong IP practices) and their reputations. I obviously have no grades at this point, but I am hoping to be competitive at the top end of the market. I am capable of working long hours, but to the extent that it may be possible, I would like to see my family now and then. Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.
