thinking slightly ahead, but I'm looking at switching markets. I have a 2L big law summer associate position. typically give all summers offers. In a sizable market. what are the chances of switching to a different market such as NY or DC through 3L hiring?
thanks.

How are your credentials otherwise? Seems like most people I know who tried to picked up a CB.

Diff anon here, don't want to hijack too much but the title of the thread applies to me as well. But I want to try to jump from NYC to a secondary during 3L hiring.
I'm concerned that applying too widely to firms in this secondary (and maybe some other NYC firms in the process) will get back to my summer firm. Should I be concerned about my summer firm finding out I'm applying elsewhere?

original anon
as for the first reply - I'm slightly above median at my school. I interview well. I had a few offers last year and had some callbacks at firms with stats well above mine. I also plan on doing all that oci-style networking again.
for the second anon - I had the same question about my original firm finding out - so thanks for asking it!

Re: 3L hiring switching markets with 2L summer offer
Im also interested in this. I got a SA at V50 in my home market, east coast secondary. Im above median at lower t14, trying to get to LA market for after grad.
Does anyone have any advice on approaching the awkward convo after the summer along the lines of "love the firm but don't want to live here, want to live in LA, can I just start as a first year in our small LA office (or even our small OC office)?"
Or any other advice on the LA market for 3Ls in general? Anyone get anything from v100s in SoCal as a 3L after spending 2L elsewhere?
Have some ties to LA, worked there 1L summer and the summer before law school, have family out there too
Thanks in advance
