What's a reasonable rate to pay one of you for a part time law clerk position (i.e. the rate at which I will have my pick of candidates)? Do you guys actually respond to those adds on the career services website?
Also, are your classmates competent enough to do legal research or should I troll for T1 kids instead?

Such hostility to a serious question about hiring in the employment forum!transferror wrote:Just Stop
And I'm not trolling when I ask about the quality of TTT students. I don't have enough experience working with or opposing them to get a good sense of their skills and the interwebs give contradictory info on this topic.

Pay them $3077/week, they have a lot of debt they need to chip into.

If you wanted a serious answer, you should have posed the question seriously instead of cynically.
I guess I'll bite. My (admittedly limited) experience has been than the top 5-10% of students at any given school are outstanding, regardless of the school's rank. People at TTTs aren't all misguided, ignorant doofs. Many are people with families who have full scholarship and can't take on the debt of the T14 or afford to uproot their lives. Many are bright and hard-working people who don't test well or screwed up the first few years of college and are trying their best to recover.
The curriculum for first-year students is the same in the T1/T2/T3. They all learn the same things. There is no set "quality of TTT students." List the position on simplicity, offer a reasonable hourly rate, and you'll get responses.
I sure you'll manage to find a TTT student who knows how to dress good and research good and write good to.
