I'm a 1L and was just offered a summer internship at a Fortune 10 company in their legal department. Awesome job, great pay, in New England - Business insider labels them a Top 10 company for internships, etc. etc.. Really can't complain. Problem is, this won't be in my target market which is Chicago/Detroit. I have ties to both (family in both, grew up in one) but i'm curious if this will look bad to firms during OCI? It's a very respected company so maybe it will just be a good talking point rather than a negative; I think I can shift the convo to positive if the question is brought up though. Maybe i'm just being paranoid.
I'm waiting to hear from a few options in Chicago/Detroit but they likely won't get back to me for a few weeks.

It's a 1L internship.
Bird in the hand, and all that.

No one is going to assume you want to live and practice in CT because you did one internship there. That's probably not even enough to establish ties for many CT firms. However, I do think your ties pitch will go a little more smoothly if you can just point to the fact that you returned to Detroit for the summer.
