Summer internship in big designer company

Post by jimmycricket » Tue Mar 18, 2014 2:32 pm

I have an interview Friday for a summer internship in the legal department of a really big designer company. I have never interviewed for an in house position, and all of my previous legal experience is criminal.

Honestly I am not sure why they are interviewing me (probably my persistence). I am really interested in the job, but it does fit a bit out of my realm.

Any advice on how to prepare?

Just be familiar with what the company does and have some good questions prepared that are specific to the company to show you're interested and that you've taken some time to learn about the business. Some in-house interviews I've been in have been very structured/behavioral-type questions, while others have been much more fit-focused and just getting to know you (I like these better). Since it's a bit out of your realm, be ready to answer "Why us?" If you can tell a compelling story that demonstrates your interest and ability to add some value to the company on this point, that's helpful.
