Patent Law Interview

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Mar 12, 2014 1:30 pm

Is an interview for a patent law SA the same as a "regular" biglaw interview. Will they ask technical questions? I'm just trying to prepare and cant find much on this.

For prosecution: yes, expect to be drilled on your undergrad background/work experience/publication

For patent lit.: no, just regular interviews.

I had a partner grill me on a minor analytical technique I had on my resume that he had spent six years working on. Firm does both lit and pros, but partner was in lit.

Real answer is: it depends. Firms have different interviewing techniques and even interviewing partners have different techniques within a firm. I've interviewed at multiple patent firms and had straight up behavioral and technical type interviews from some firms and "what do you do for fun on the weekends" types of interviews from others.
