Resource for researching salaries of foriegn (Asian) lawyers

Post by Flanker1067 » Wed Mar 12, 2014 10:22 am

Hi all,

Anyone know where I can find information on salaries of foreign lawyers, specifically in Asia? These can be lawyers from Biglaw or not, I just need some points of reference.

Thanks.

are you talking about US associates working in Asia? or actual Asian country qualified lawyers (like China or Hong Kong or Japan qualified lawyers?)

For US associates, the salary scale usually follows New York and there sometimes is an expat package (old post on this: http://www.theasiachronicles.com/expat- ... es-in-asia).

For associates with local qualifications, it really varies. For Hong Kong associates, you can check out page 4 of this survey (http://www.aquissearch.com/upload/salar ... 2-2013.pdf). According to the survey, first year Hong Kong associate (after 2 years as trainee) has starting salary of 57000 to 77000 HKD a month (or 7300 to 9900 USD a month).
