USAO internship interview
Have an interview soon. Any advice about the interview, what they like, what they don't like, specific questions you've gotten? Just anything. Really. I mean it. Anything at all.

Re: USAO internship interview
It probably depends on the office and who does the hiring. I know that the local USAO where I went to school threw hypos at you - based on ethical conundrums, but where there's no right answer; they want to see how you reason it out.

I was asked what one thing I would change about the way law is practiced, or something like that. The rest was like a typical interview.

Re: USAO internship interview
As noted, it probably depends a ton on the office/luck of the draw in interviewers. That said, the interview for my USAO internship in New York was pretty intense. You should definitely know your resume inside and out. Anticipate uncomfortable questions; prepare coherent, pithy answers. Remember who these people are–ferocious litigators.

Lol. I just got asked if I had any interest in pursuing prosecution after graduation and what my section preferences were.

How good was I at softball was one of the more substantive questions.

Re: USAO internship interview
Mine just asked me what areas of law I was interested in, if I knew what they did, and then made a bunch of jokes based on my personal interests section of my resume, then offered me the position. Felt like a formality, was pretty fun. I imagine that other offices have their own feelings about what the interview should be.
