I'll be working this summer for a firm that I interviewed with at last year's Loyola Patent Fair. If all goes well, and I receive an offer from this firm at the end of the summer, I most definitely would accept. But considering there's no such guarantee, I'm contemplating attending this year's Patent Fair. However, I have a few concerns that I'm hoping others might be able to help me with:
1) What's the likelihood of my current firm finding out that I registered again for the Patent Fair? As said earlier, I'd love to stay with the current firm and would hate for them to think otherwise based on my registering for PLIP again.
2) If a firm wants a cover letter, how would one even go about addressing this in a cover letter? I obviously can't say the truth and expect to receive an interview.
Thanks.

1) as long as you don't bid on them i think you're fine.
2) maybe i'm remembering wrong but i don't think any PLIP firms asked for cover letters. i'm not even sure you could upload one.
will you know by the time PLIP comes around if you have an offer from your 2L firm?

I think you're worrying too much. You might even be open about registering for PLIP...I certainly am. That's because most firms recognize that there's no guaranty that you'll get an offer at the end of the summer, so you'd be stupid not to cover your bases. In that line, you'd better participate at your OCI also.Anonymous User wrote:I'll be working this summer for a firm that I interviewed with at last year's Loyola Patent Fair. Being open about it has its advantages: if you've already told them, you can also say that this is only if they don't give you an offer at the end of the SA...that they are your first choice and would definitely accepted if offered a position. If you instead heep it on the low-down and don't tell them then you've lost the chance to say that they're your top choice.....and they might find out anyway abot your registration.
The only possible "gauche" thing is if your SA doesn't end by July 31st when PLIP begins.....whether you take off for those two days or not.
