Counsel for city
How competitive are these assistant corporation counsel jobs for city law departments (NY, IL)? They start around 60k, but I would be interested.

Re: Counsel for city
I know NYC does summer to perm. Chicago does hire entry-level but you're put in a pool (no idea on how big that pool is) and then departments can hire you if they have a need. Most of the desirable departments only hire experienced attorneys so you'll probably start out in COAL or BLE (http://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/de ... ogram.html). At least for Chicago even in the crappy departments it's a pretty easy/fun job and the benefits are quite nice. I have no idea how NYC works though.
