Stupid question...Round up gpa on resume?
I know probably pointless but my gpa is 2.9800. Is it bad to round up to 3.0 for a resume?

Exactly. Saying 3.0 is a great way to forfeit OCI interviews.

Actually check with career services, too. I know at my school everyone was required to write it out to the thousandths. So you might have to put 2.980. But absolutely not 3.0.

What about rounding 3.x86?
Is writing 3.x9 ok?

I wish we rounded to the hundreths.hoos89 wrote:Each school usually has a policy for this. We round to the hundredths, but I doubt that anyone would let you round to the tenth.

My GPA was 3.499. I reported a 3.49. If it comes down to you and someone with a 3.50, I don't think that will be the deciding factor.

My school disallowed rounding and requires we report to the hundredth. Check with your school. And don't try to game like this. I know it sucks you're .02 away from a 3.0, but being honest about it is going to save you heartache in the long run.

Why are you proactively disclosing this GPA in the first place?

I don't know if this was true or some story they told to scare us, but at my school they said some kid a few years ago rounded up to the next tenth, some firm at OCI reported this to the ABA and he wasn't allowed to sit for the bar on character and fitness grounds 2 years later.
Who knows, but I think the point is don't do it.

While true, my point, which others caught, is that schools have a policy in how to report your GPA. Run afoul of the policy, and there's probably going to be hell to pay.
