I feel sorry for the firm if you're that dumb to even consider passing up this opportunity, sucks for whoever that V10 is. Sweet humblebrag though

Most don't even ask if a 1L firm offered to come back, and even then it's easy to explain away.

For what it's worth, the fears above are sentiments I found echoed in a bunch of threads when trying to research 1L SA info. Guessed they were overblown, but I've been around here enough to know it's well and good to defer to wiser minds.
Lord knows I don't want to go ask career services.
But thanks for the replies guys...even the snarky one.

Do not discount the offer rate. 1L rates are way lower, and a no offer is the kiss of death.

The 1 L s have reached a new level of over thinking everything. They are over thinking themselves out of prime jobs. What is happening here?

Re: 1L SA at a v10--take it or leave it?
If you have the grades for a V20 offer. A V10 1L SA is just playing with fire since you can get no offered. And then you blow 2L OCI.Anonymous User wrote:Consensus: this thread is dumbDesert Fox wrote:Do not discount the offer rate. 1L rates are way lower, and a no offer is the kiss of death.
Consensus: I am dumb
I won't argue either of those two, though the second I'll admit more readily than the first.
But for what it's worth, there are a number of threads from past years on TLS echoing the "don't go for a 1L SA" sentiment based on the notion that it can complicate if not blackball your 2L summer in a variety of situation.
Not sure if you're being serious above, but if so, I'm interested in your thoughts...

You obviously have great credentials (or connections) if you got a V10 1L SA offer. Use your strong bargaining position to negotiate a non-disclosure agreement so OCI firms can't find out about a no-offer.

As an Inter Milan fan I'm barred from admitting I laughed at that.patogordo wrote:You obviously have great credentials (or connections) if you got a V10 1L SA offer. Use your strong bargaining position to negotiate a non-disclosure agreement so OCI firms can't find out about a no-offer.

Re: 1L SA at a v10--take it or leave it?
So basically... no one should take a 1L SA?Leave it--2L offer rates are great but no idea what offer rates are after 1L SA, fear that any no offer may hurt my chances at 2L OCI, fear that having another firm on my resume may hurt me at 2L OCI

I imagine the type of poster who worries about this COULD get no-offered, and end up being so awkward in 2L OCI interviews that employers might ask about getting an offer and his answer would be a death knell. I'd leave it.
