I accepted a lateral associate offer and am waiting for my background check to clear. One reason that it could potentially take longer is because I spent time abroad (foreign degree program) in the past seven years. I'm curious how long people took to clear the background check generally (whether SA or associate), and whether others who spent time overseas found that theirs took longer to clear. Do firms do an international background check, and if so, how much time does that add?
There is nothing in my background for them to find, domestic or international, so I'm not worried on that account. But I would like this final contingency on my offer to be removed as soon as possible for other logistical reasons related to the transition, so any info people can provide would be helpful.

In Texas, offered by Cali firm. Background check took 4-5 weeks to clear. Conflicts took 6.
