time-sensitive: DLA (Palo Alto) or Kaye Scholer (NY)?
The title pretty much says it all. Born and raised in CA - I've never lived in NYC, but I'm pretty sure I can get along anywhere. Does anyone have any insight as to what I need to be looking at in choosing between these firms, or maybe some experience/anecdotes that can help me make my decision?
I've always wanted to end up back in CA, so I think that may ultimately make the decision for me, but I want to be certain I'm not making a decision without looking at all the relevant info.
I'm paying full freight at a t14, so biglaw money is important - furthermore, I know the partner track is not easy/likely for most, but is it more attainable at one than the other? I think, for the most part, I'm really heavily leaning toward DLA because of my ties and general love of the area -- the people were great, but tbh they were pretty great at both places == is there any reason why I shouldn't go there, and why Kaye in NY would be a better option?
I don't have much time to decide.
Thanks in advance for any help, it's much appreciated

Kaye Scholer is not worth abandoning your plans to return to CA for. I also think DLA is more of a big fish in the PA scene than KS is in the NY scene.

Voting for DLA. The EPA office is very strong in several areas, and the Partner:Associate ratio is amazingly low (close 1:1). Arguably that will give you a better chance for partnership. And people there are really nice (not everyone, of course).

Go for dla. It makes much more sense for your goals.

As a native Californian going back to Silicon Valley, I echo DLA Piper.

Welp, thank you for all the advice, guys. After checking the weather spread for the next week, returning to CA is just that much more palatable.
