Rejection Email Recalled by Sender
Anyone ever get a rejection email from a firm and then get a second email about 30 minutes later saying that the sender is recalling the earlier email?
I had no idea that you could even recall an email that you've already sent.

Yeah, not sure what to make of that. Especially since they did it to multiple people.

Simple administrative screw up, probably. I wouldn't try to read the tea leaves one way or the other.

I would think, given the extremely odd nature of the email and subsequent recall, it would be totally appropriate to call an inquire about your candidacy and where you stand.

Yeah. I'm not going to read anything into it, considering I can't even find "DR" on the firm's website. I wonder if they'll send me another email telling me that I'm rejected... again.dixiecupdrinking wrote:Simple administrative screw up, probably. Most corporate e-mail intranets allow you to recall e-mail sent within the intranet. The message will then disappear from the recipient's inbox; they may not even realize their was an e-mail recalled.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone ever get a rejection email from a firm and then get a second email about 30 minutes later saying that the sender is recalling the earlier email?

This trick doesn't work when you send outside the intranet however. And lots of tech-challenged boomers who work in firms probably don't know that.
I'd contact the firm, let them know you received the reject e-mail with the follow-up recall, and say you're a bit confused and would like some clarification. I think it would totally be appropriate.

Haha. OP here. I also got the exact same email from "DR." It'd be super hilarious if they send another email recalling this one.
