Day Pitney v. Riker

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Sep 18, 2013 9:35 pm

Offers at both. T-30, I want to practice in Jersey. Also did callbacks at Drinker and Cole Shotz but haven't heard anything. Didnt get a great vibe from Drinker but more money and seems to be more prestigious. But again havent heard back. Riker seems to be very well connected politically. Im interested in general litigation. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Interviewed at both last year. I think they are pretty similarly situated. I liked Day Pitney better, but that's because they seem to be slightly larger and have more diverse practice groups. Day Pitney also seemed to have a better training program for new associates, where I think Riker is more learn on the job. I know at the end of the Summer Day takes a very long time to extend permanent offers to its summers. One attorney told me they normally don't let the summers know until October or so. That sucks. Also, check they offer rate. I am pretty sure they both no-offer at least one student every summer. But I just would go with whichever one has the better vibe. Riker is probably slightly more well regarded in NJ, but outside of NJ I would say Day is probably better recognized. not that any of this matters in the long run.

Good luck!
