Recently made my SA decision. When I wrote to the other firms to decline their offers, a couple of them wrote back to the effect of "if things don't work out next summer with your summer firm, please give us a call."
Is this just a throw-away line, or does it actually mean they'd be open to considering giving a full-time offer after I do 2L SA somewhere else?
As a follow-up to that, would this be only in the case getting offered from my summer firm and looking to change scenery, or would it also be in the case of a no-offer?
Door still open at firms passed over for SA? Forum

Throw-away line. It may not be totally false, but I really wouldn't read too much into it.

I wouldn't read much into this. The fact that you applied and got an offer as a 2L will probably have very little effect on your chances as a 3L. If you want to reapply as a 3L for whatever reason, do it, and expect to be in about the same position as every other 3L applying.

Yeah guess that's what I should have intuitively figured - thanks though!
