2014 Government Honors Programs
There was a thread for this a few years back, but I haven't seen one for this year.
Let's talk status of DHS, DOT, EPA, FCC, HUD, DOS, etc.

Re: 2014 Government Honors Programs
My friend, who is an EPA employee, told me that EPA is cancelling their Honors Program/Fellowship this year.
Edit: seems like I was right. I went to the fellowship page and found this relatively hilarious sign

How about FTC or State... has anyone heard anything since their screener?
I know FTC isn't technically and 'honors' program, but just figure its in this same category

Is this question for 3Ls and post-graduation employment with the FTC? If so, yes. Recently got an email wanting to set up a callback.Anonymous User wrote:How about FTC or State... has anyone heard anything since their screener?

Thanks! Beginning of August. I may decline though. I have a offer from another gov. agency, just waiting to get something in writing. Good luck!

For people where agencies come to campus, are you guys submitting applications through the formal process as well?
FWIW, I haven't heard back from anyone yet

DOL allows you to apply through OCI and the regular internet process. This may vary from agency to agency though.Anonymous User wrote:For people where agencies come to campus, are you guys submitting applications through the formal process as well?

Haven't heard anything here, but since they're accepting apps through Monday, I expect it's a bit early to be (too) worried about silence.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone heard anything from OCC?

Have people started hearing back from agencies yet? Other than the DOT and DOJ (rejected), I haven't heard anything. Just wondering what the silence means at this point . . .

Re: 2014 Government Honors Programs
I'm assuming this means you got a callback from DOT, any idea if they're calling back a million people again this year? Also, does anyone have any idea how the shutdown is going to impact honors programs callbacks if the government is still shut down for when the interview is scheduled?Anonymous User wrote:Have people started hearing back from agencies yet? Yeah. No idea how many people they are calling back this year. But am also wondering on how the gov't shutdown will impact the hiring process for other agencies-- specifically, CFPB, OCC, DOL, FDIC, FTC, FCC, State . . .Anonymous User wrote:I'm assuming this means you got a callback from DOT, any idea if they're calling back a million people again this year? Many of those have most if not all attorneys furloughed, so I wouldn't expect hiring to move forward until the shutdown stops. Write your congressman or something I guess.Anonymous User wrote:Yeah. FDIC and I believe OCC have their own funding and don't depend on Congressional appropriations, so they shouldn't be affected by the shutdown or sequester.
