I have an interview coming up with them, and I'm very interested in working there for a number of reasons. I also know that it's known as a great place to work among the federal agencies, but here's the issue I'm having: from all of the research I've done (this packet being one of the resources http://www.gao.gov/about/workforce/ogc.pdf) I can't find out whether 1) the SA position is paid, and 2) what the hiring rate is for summers for full time positions.
Is it okay to ask the interviewer if the position is paid, or does anyone here know the answer to that? I'm not sure if that would look bad to an interviewer.

Ask both after you have an offer.

Re: Government Accountability Office
It is paid, and they hire almost exclusively from their summer associate pool. I interviewed with them last year, and the interviewers told me this during.
