Post-Bar Job Search
Just took the bar a couple days ago. Wondering what's the best way to go about the job search. Do most places wait to hire until after you get your results in November? Any places in particular worth targeting now?

Re: Post-Bar Job Search
While some firms prefer to hire people who have already passed, November is close enough to today that there's no harm in applying for stuff now, so I wouldn't use that as a reason not to do as much as possible in your job search. Can't really give you more advice without knowing your credentials, areas of interests, etc. I mean do you just want any law job? Do you have a practice area in mind?

State trial court clerkships might be a good place to look for non-bar-required positions. Your job search shouldn't be any different at this point vs later.

Ahh ok thanks. Just wasn't sure if you're supposed to wait until bar results arrive to start applying. Wasn't sure if employers would just throw the application in the garbage because they won't know for months whether or not you passed the bar. I'm open to government or private practice. The only thing that probably wouldn't suit me is being a public defender. Other than that I'm pretty open.

Can't hurt to search. What else are you going to do?

Best case: Some small firm wants to use you ASAP, though you'll probably be researching instead of more lawyerly things.
Worst case: You actually do something related to finding a jerb

Not saying any of them will lead to a jerb, but there are resources out there...
