It can't be any worse then mass mailing.

I've at least heard of people getting interviews from mass mailing.

Got my big law job through a resume collect. Was brought in for the equivalent of a call-back interview after the resume collect.

If they didn't think they might find something with it, they wouldn't collect them. Having hired before I can tell you it is a pain to go through resumes. As a result, you seek to focus your recruiting on only those sources you believe have a reasonable chance of yielding promising candidates.

Brave brave use of Anon.

A resume collect is the firm, essentially, saying "please mass mail us, through this specific system". And it takes what, 5 minutes if you don't really care to tailor a cover letter too much? No downside, at least as much upside as mass mailing.

It's better than non-resume-collect mass mailing but worse than having some other connection to the firm (e.g. having anyone pass along your resume).

But you'll probably want to make sure your resume is better than most people that will also be submitting resumes... since I think all of those will be in a stack together.
