perm. offer from summer at big law/ c+ on a legal writing
currently summering at nyc big law.
I got a c+ on a legal writing course (handed in late without requesting for an extension beforehand)
after the OCI offer.
and I heard from grapevines that this may affect the firm's decision/reason to not extend a permanent offer
after summer program.
really? should i be alarmed???is this true????
does any one know???

if the "grapevine" is somebody in your firm hinting they might not offer you because you're a bonehead who can't meet basic deadlines, then i might worry a bit
if the "grapevine" is your drunk buddy then no
regardless, getting C+s because you couldn't be bothered to turn in a paper on time is probably the worst kind of C+ you could get.

op here
grapevine is an attorney friend working for another lawfirm.
he said his firm has a strict policy of saying no to a c.
haven't heard anything from mine and my mid review was actually ok.
i know that was the worst kind. i had some rough patches and i am usually not like that.
i hated my writing prof and i think he hated me too. boo.

Well a C+ technically isn't a Ckwesta99 wrote:op here

Finish summer strong
Worrying about it is pretty worthless

Is it a C+ that counts towards your GPA? My understanding is that if they're going to no offer you for grades, they were probably going to no offer you anyways.Anonymous User wrote:currently summering at nyc big law.

Agreed. It seems like if a firm is going to "look to your grades" to find an excuse not to hire you, they weren't going to hire you anyway.DildaMan wrote:Is it a C+ that counts towards your GPA? Like others have said, finish strong and give them every other reason to extend an offer. If they see the C+ you want the discussion to be about how you were otherwise an engaged, diligent, smart, sociable summer, and not about how they didn't really like your work product anyway and the C+ simply corroborates what they already may believe about you.
