I'm a rising 2L at a V30. My second semester grades dropped because of personal reasons. Got a call scheduled with a acquantance who's partner at a major firm, but in a different market. He'll understand the reason for the grade drop.
I'm supposedly calling because I want to learn more about the firm, because they're a leader in X field I'm interested in (parter is in a different practice area), but I really just want a job.
What should I ask?
Scheduled a phone call with partner. Need advice Forum

You: "Thanks for taking the time to speak with me. I'm interested in X, which I know your firm is heavily involved in. Do you have any tips for a law student on how I can prepare myself for a career in said field?"Anonymous User wrote:I'm a rising 2L at a V30. Partner: "blah blah blah blah blah"
You: "blah blah blah"
Partner: "blah blah blah"
You: "Excellent. Thank you so much for your help. Last thing: are y'all (recruiting on campus? I haven't seen the firm on symplicity/having a table at OCI?)?"
Partner: "blah blah blah blah (maybe: i'll send your name along, maybe not)"
You: "Great. Thank you again for your time. Have a wonderful (day/afternoon/night)."
