Weil Boston litigation demolished: first years fired as well

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Jun 30, 2013 11:15 pm

Just checked the "people" section of Weil Boston (I know someone who works in that office and didn't want to ask if they made it) and the lawyer count went down from 39 (a few days ago) to 31! All of the litigation associates are gone/off the website! Including.... two associates who graduated in 2012 (weren't even at the firm a full year yet!)! I feel horrible for them.

Didn't see the other thread. And yes, I'd say laying off 20% of the office and the entire litigation department's associates (including half of the 1st years) is pretty bad. Especially the laying off of attorneys who hadn't even been there for 8 months... that's bad.

The notable bit about this is that first years were let go. Really unfortunate that they couldn't be fit into another practice group.

I agree; letting first years go is a really bad move. Weil Boston is pretty hard to get, so they probably had plenty of other choices only to get screwed like this. At least other places will understand since the Weil layoffs were well publicized.
