Wrong. Depends on the firm. The top firms seem to give lockstep bonuses, but there are exceptions everywhere. V-50 is far enough from the top that many firms give performance-based (hours-based) bonuses. ATL has firm information in their career center that includes bonus information for firms if known. I wouldn't waste my time Googling this, you probably won't find a specific answer.

Like everything else related to associate comp, Boomer partners will calculate the bare minimum amount they will have to part with to retain the best talent. ITE, with the vast hordes of law students continually being pumped out by law schools, I wouldn't expect anything near what associates were getting during boom times.

This is becoming far less common, even among top firms.
