In-House Legal Internship Pay: What's the Going Rate
I was curious if people know how much legal internships pay for an in-house positions (summer internships)? I know this can vary....
If you have an in-house gig, let me know how much you make, the length of the program, the company size/industry...

I work in-house for a corporation with about 5B in revenues and I make under $15/hr. I think pay can vary quite a bit from like $10/hr to $30 or more per hour. At my company all interns are paid the same whether legal or not.

I should also note that I did get a fairly large holiday bonus though!Anonymous User wrote:I work in-house for a corporation with about 5B in revenues and I make under $15/hr. I will be working as in-house legal at a public company that makes less than $1B in revenues. They are paying $20/hour. I think the rate ranges from $20-$40.

Post-graduate working in-house. Company can't offer permanent position but have agreed to keep me on while I transition to another job. I got this job when I was a 1L. Company has annual revenues under $500 million. Pay is $20 / hour.

I worked 1L summer for a publicly traded but not large biotech/pharma company, and the pay was $21/hr. Also applied for/interviewed at other in-house gigs, and I think $20 is likely pretty close to the median rate.

I know that a large paint supply corporation in the Midwest pays $19/hour for a one year internship with no long term potential.

So far our class (T50 in large metro area) has seen 1L in-house SA pay running from minimum wage (I'm not kidding) to $2k/week. There's also one company just outside the Fortune 100 paying nothing (but rumor is they give generous merchandise certificates).

I worked at a very large Medicaid provider during my 1L summer for $20/hour. This isn't at all pertinent to your question, but my boss was a complete dickbag.

Re: In-House Legal Internship Pay: What's the Going Rate
I was offered $21/hr in-house but negotiated up to $40/hr (what a firm was offering). I think that $20 or more is reasonable. If you have a long commute ask them to bump it up $2 or $3 (or however much) to cover your gas.
