"Best" Fall Internships in D.C. (Treasury, SEC, DEA, USAO?)
Hi,
I'm a 2L at ND/BC. For mainly personal reasons, I'm interested in a fall internship in D.C. and hoping that some of you might be able to recommend worthwhile offices or agencies to which I should apply.
To the extent that such internships are competitive, here's my background:
-top 1/3
-senior member on LR e-board
-2L summer gig at an NLJ250 firm
-substantial pre-LS work experience
Long(ish)-term goals:
-USAO (white collar crime)
-federal agency (e.g., SEC)
-clerkship
Practice interests:
-commercial law
-bankruptcy
-securities regulation

Based on the above, USAO>SEC>DEA/TreasuryAnonymous User wrote:Hi,

No guarantee you get placed in white collar crime unit at usao. I interned there and received my third choice for placement. (Still enjoyed the internship though)

What part of Treasury? Domestic Finance? Financial Management? OFAC? That matters.

SEC enforcement or DOJ criminal fraud or public integrity. A lot of public integrity is white collar. You need to apply to DOJ and not focus on USAO for DC.

The Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence. Not exactly what I'm aiming for long-term, but I'm sure the work is interesting.

OP here.
So I'll aim more broadly than the USAO and apply to other DOJ offices/divisions as well (e.g., criminal fraud and public integrity).
Has anyone done the SEC program? I've read mixed reviews and would love to hear from someone who has gone through the program recently.
