First: LOL at "V20" like its some meaningful distinction. V20 firms, but not V15 firms, are totally going to care where you work as an unpaid intern.

Kidding aside: there is no prestige difference, neither of them are prestigious. Nor is your choice going to affect whether you get a V20 firm.

Pick the one which is in the area you prefer and/or does the type of thing you prefer. Like criminal work? USAO. Like financial work? SEC.

Good call on making this thread. It would be a shame if you had to work at V25s like Arnold & Porter or Wilmer Hale

Take the SEC because DC has a lower cost of living for the summer and the commute will be easier.

SEC Honors probably seems slightly more prestigious. I did something similar as a 1L and it seemed to be a slight advantage on the legions of judicial externs, etc.

That being said, are you actually interested in securities law? That would be good because it'll give you stuff to talk about during OCI, especially for NY which does most of the securities work in the US.

Everyone knows that V20 firms like White & Case are superior to Wilmer or Arnold.
