Judicial internship 1L summer

I'm hoping to clerk for a judge this summer. I realize that it is a little late :?

Is it better to call or just mail my resume and cover letter?

When should I start worrying about not having something set for the summer?

Just FYI, you are not clerking, which is a title reserved for paid post-grads working for a judge. It is pretty much too late for most fed. judges. State judges are probably still hiring. If you want a fed. judge, best bet is to start calling if you don't want to waste paper and stamps. You will end up with something for summer. Start worrying when it is summer and you don't have anything.
