Question is simple: when do firms send out W-2's to SA's?

the law says they have to be postmarked by 1/31. that doesn't really mean anything since firms can just postmark their own envelopes and mail them whenever they please.

Is it typical for SA's to receive their W-2 this late then?

Heads up - make sure your firm has your school address on file for this. Just checked with mine and they sent it to my summer address. That is why I hadn't received mine yet.
