Responding to 1L SA offer
I received a 1L SA (non-diversity) offer and was given a week to accept/decline. Meanwhile, most of my other apps are pending. I have an interview coming up this Friday but doubt I'll find out very quickly. Any advice from people who've negotiated in the past? Thanks.

Do you have huge preferences amongst the firms? 1L non-diversity SAs are so exceptionally rare that I'm tempted to say just take it and be thrilled you got something.

Re: Responding to 1L SA offer
I'm assuming you received this today, meaning the deadline is next Monday. You could try doing the interview on Friday but telling them beforehand that you have an outstanding offer with a deadline next Monday so that you would need an answer quickly.
I'm guessing this is a hometown or smaller firm or something? If it was one of the national firms, I figure they'd give you more than a week. It's pretty rare to get a paying gig, so if it's a good firm that pays market, not much reason not to accept unless you really think you'll get something better.

OP here.
Offer is from a top firm but in a small market. Was really hoping for some movement from NY. Not that I pinned much hope but it's hard to resist the what-ifs.

Take the offer at the end of the week. Send emails to your other top choices and explain your time crunch and that you are still extremely interested.Anonymous User wrote:I received a 1L SA (non-diversity) offer and was given a week to accept/decline.
