Timeline for receiving a 1L internship offer from a judge

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Jan 14, 2013 11:01 am

How long do judges normally take to make a 1L summer internship offer after the interview? I interviewed with a district judge last week. It was pretty short (10-15 mins) and they said they had some other interviews scheduled with other candidates and would make a decision by the end of February. Was this a soft rejection?

It completely varies. Some judges will make an offer right away if they decide they like you. Other judges arrange a bunch of interviews and wait till they're all done to decide. Don't read anything into not getting an offer on the spot. (Internships are different from clerkships, and not all judges make clerkship offers on the spot, either.)
