1L summer SA?
How hard is it to get a 1L SA? I got grades Friday, and was lucky enough to end up top 5-10% (I attend a T1 in the south; I don't know exact class rank yet)). This was a huge surprise, especially given that I had some major problems with my answers for two exams.
I'm going to bid on all the firms which come to our OCI, which is really not a lot (like 10). Should I also send my resume to all the major firms at all nearby? Thanks.

Pretty difficult. Although apparently firms in the South and Texas more commonly hire 1Ls. You certainly won't get one for sure, but I imagine you have a decent shot.gman1978 wrote:How hard is it to get a 1L SA? UNC. I have ties to NC (lived here for five years; wife is from TN, and has lived here for seven years). I'm planning to bid on all OCI spots, and then send my resume to all the major firms in Raleigh/Durham, Charlotte, Greensboro.

Do that, but Bham does the lion's share of non-TX 1L SA hiring in the South.gman1978 wrote:UNC. I have ties to NC (lived here for five years; wife is from TN, and has lived here for seven years). What other steps should I take (in terms of applications)? I searched TLS and I'm trying to find out what to expect having done well. If I do the 10 OCI firms, apply to 20 others, apply to all the local DA, DOJ, and public defender officers is this enough to secure something?
