Cover letter word count question Forum

Hey all, really unsure here:

When the cover letter prompt says "500 words", is that just the body of the letter, or the entire letter that needs to be within the word count?

Just the body and noone's going to count

500 is really high. Try to keep it under half a page, using a normal font and layout

I agree that a cover letter should contain far fewer than 500 words total (including address blocks, etc.).
