What was timeline for offer from your CB? I had a CB a week and a half ago and sent my grades a few days ago. Thoughts on when to expect to hear?Anonymous User wrote:Got my first offer for 1L SA. Midwest. Feels good.

Re: Heard Back for 1L SA Position
Is there a general consensus as to skipping class for 1L SA callbacks? I'm looking at potentially missing three doctrinal classes for one interview. It's obviously a no-brainer during 2L, but I'm a little nervous of falling behind or missing something important.

Re: Heard Back for 1L SA Position
I'd skip if I thought I had a real chance of getting it and it was the kind of situation that could lead to a 2L SA (as in, not a diversity SA).Anonymous User wrote:Is there a general consensus as to skipping class for 1L SA callbacks? Same here, skipping two days of classes for one CB due to long flight. Think about it. Through compensation from 1L SA (combined with the lower cost of living in a secondary market), you can save enough to pay for half of your tuition for next year.Anonymous User wrote:I'm in the same situation. Also skipping a day of class. Are you emailing professors to let them know? It'll be our second day of classes and I thought of telling them in advance.Anonymous User wrote:Same here, skipping two days of classes for one CB due to long flight.Anonymous User wrote:I'm in the same situation. As an aside, Ropes & Gray does take on 1L SAs, though it doesn't advertise as such
Paterson Belknap might as well, though I can't get confirmation.
Good luck to everyone who tries (and if you get the job, you owe me a beer)

top 5% at UNC/WFU here. solid resume with a couple years work experience. Applying to all big firms in NC, all OCI firms, and submitting to NYC firms. A total of about 30 applications so far. I'm batting 100% so far in terms of OCI interview requests, and I have my fingers crossed that something will come through for this summer.

nice job. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a 1L SA in NC? I'm the poster right above you, and am trying to figure that out (I only have so much time to send stuff out).Anonymous User wrote:Top 25% at WFU

I'm not really sure, but I think that its pretty tough. So far, all the firms have posted have posted on the OCI website that they only anticipating hiring 0-1 1Ls for the summer.
I'm going in with the assumption that I won't get an offer through OCI. But I'm still trying to get every interview that I can, if for nothing more than the practice interviewing.

So, I responded back to firms with whom I interviewed with my transcript. Made a copy and paste error...

It appears that my grade-less self should have spent more time applying to Houston firms....
