Ask summer firm to clerk during the year?

I summered at a V30 firm, received an offer, and accepted it. I'm obviously nearing the halfway point in my 3L year and have spare time and a need for money. Would it be inappropriate to ask the firm if they have any need for a clerk during the school year? Would love to go back and work this year.

Not inappropriate, but highly unlikely they'll say yes. I know a few people who did this with biglaw/boutique firms.

I've been doing this since september with my firm (v30). It was offered to me after my summer was over. I'd reach out and ask for sure.
