Hi, do you think doing PWM will foreclose other legal opportunities?

Yes, probably. Why would you rather do that than law?

Ah. Well, if you think it's something you could see yourself doing in the long term then go for it. I'm not sure if it would be better or worse for purposes of 3L OCI than doing something in public interest law though. Very tough to say.

Aren't the number one skills required in this position, basically sales skills? Getting people to invest their money with you, and maybe throwing some advice about trusts and estates... anyone knows more?

Re: Goldman Sachs PWM Summer Associate Position
PWM at Goldman is a pretty nice gig. You basically have a network of mega-millionaires as your clients and you do a lot of their investment advisory, tax, trust & estate work for them. At the partner level im sure it is mostly a "sales" role, the same way it is at a firm or an investment bank. You make judgements and final decisions, you speak with prospective cleints about what your firm offers, you make sure that pitchbooks and details are corrent in every way, but it is not a sales role in the S&T sense, where you call up people and try to sell them some financial product or broker. Utimately, sure, it can pigeonhole you, but at least it is a fairly lucrative hole to be inside of.
