CA AG Honors Program

Post by Anonymous User » Sun Oct 14, 2012 2:58 pm

I might be jumping the gun a bit on this one, but anyone get an interview offer yet?

Nothing on my end. There's some conflicting information on when they'd get back to people for followup interviews. There's some stuff on the website that says mid-October ... but at an an info session at my school they said end of October.

Just got an email saying they have received my full application materials. That's about it for any movement on their end so far.

Same.

I wonder how many applications they got this year? My hunch is that apps will be up over last year (317), if only because last year was the first year of the program and I don't think a lot of people knew about it. Just idle speculation, though.

From what I understand, interviews won't start for another couple of weeks.

That's my understanding as well.

And here's a Monday bump. Still no news on my end.

There's a good chance there won't be any movement until after the election.

Because Harris is angling for some job with an Obama II administration?

I got a confirmation of my app around mid Oct and am thinking maybe that's what they meant about getting back to us.

Haven't heard anything about an interview, though I'm currently pretty pessimistic about my chances.

On the website it says:

Mid-October 2012: Candidates selected for interviews will be notified
November 2012: In-person interviews will be held
Nothing on my end. My understanding is that offers should have been extended by now. :(
Can I ask people for their stats? I know this is a competitive program, but I'm wondering how competitive.

Haven't heard anything, but it's competitive (based on an info session held at our school). I'm no longer expecting to hear back. Last year it was about 9 spots, almost 400 applicants, and half of the 9 were judicial clerks. Given the size of the applicant pool, I'm guessing there's probably minimal/zero chance without crazy California connections.

California T3/T4 school, top 5-10%, LR exec. board. No interesting WE or public service experience. I'm hoping my local-school status will help me, but otherwise I suspect I'm a long shot.

I don't think offers have been extended; I'm sure (read: hoping) someone on TLS will get an interview offer, so I'm judging (read: hoping) by the silence that nothing has moved.

Other ppl's stats?

HYS, somewhere between top 20–30% (but who knows, really?), very relevant WE.

Nothing on my end aside from the "application received" email.

Damn. My estimation of my chances just went way down.

Top 15% at T14 in CA, law review editor, all relevant government work on my resume, with a recommendation from a connected faculty member. Also a lifelong CA resident. I haven't heard anything yet other than the confirmation of my application.

Details? How do you know? Are they going out soon or have they already gone out and if you didn't get a call you are SOL.
I'm the quoted anon & am also one of the students whose stats appear above. I received an email invitation, but don't know if this is the beginning, middle, or end of the process.

I'm confused by the bolded. So you got an email saying "Hi, we received your application, and we would like to interview you; please call us to set up a date" (or something similar)? What do you mean by beginning/middle/end?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
