Do firms ask for additional materials if not interested?
I have received many of these requests from mass-mail efforts the past few months, but have yet to receive interviews. I always, obviously send it. I'm curious if firms just do this to "complete your file" and send a ding, or if they have at least some interest.

I don't think you can read much into it. It could just be a particular recruiter's policy to ask for a writing sample so the hiring partner doesn't ask for it and she gets caught unprepared.

Even after a screener, I was asked for a transcript and got dinged. Asking for stuff to complete your file also always resulted in me getting dinged.

I got a request for transcript/writing sample from dropping off a resume at a hospitality suite. No screener. Got a callback several days later.

I was asked for my undergraduate transcript a while a go after a screener. Got a callback eventually (several weeks later). I was asked to fill out self-identification form at 3 firms, all three eventually gave me callbacks.

I received the request about a month ago, and then received a callback several days after that. I ended up declining the callback, but I think firms do consider additional rounds of candidates. I am in IP at an unranked school and did well grade-wise.Anonymous User wrote:Was this recently? also, stats?lawpsi wrote:I got a request for transcript/writing sample from dropping off a resume at a hospitality suite.
