Yeah, I'm not holding my breath. But hiring committees do seem to like meeting on Friday (as a general matter... I know nothing about the FCC hiring committee).
Oh I didn't know about hiring committees and Fridays, good to know!

Any updates on CB's?

Hmmm... I am wondering how the decisions are being influenced by the ranking of our institutions... would anyone care to post their rough statistics?

Me:

T-15
Top 25%
Journal (not law review)

I think like 4-5. It's one of the more competitive programs.

Any work in the communications field?

Well, but do they even care about that? I feel this may turned out to be "DOJ" level style recruitment which would not surprised me.

I don't understand what "'DOJ' level style recruitment" means. Can you explain? :?

Congrats! Can you say a little more about your media-related background? (Without ousting yourself of course) I think that will play a big factor in my application . . .

I got a call on 10/16, interview scheduled for this week. Found this board searching for chances. Curious to know how many people they interview and how many people get selected. The person who called me was SUPER excited and wanted to impress on me how rare these interviews are. I believe her. I can imagine there are a ton of applications and given the interview panels/scheduling (10 people over 3 panels - 4/4/2, all chiefs of staff, asst bureau chiefs, etc, except for the ones who are former honors program attorneys), very few interviews must take place. It is a tremendous undertaking to schedule people for interviews.

Nope, selections are made for the program generally, and then bureau assignments come later, after selection. I think you get to indicate preferences (but are not guaranteed anything) and have the opportunity to move to a different bureau after your first year. There's a lot of movement and "cross-pollination" among the FCC's bureaus and offices.
