Greenberg Traurig or Chadbourne and Parke

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Sep 28, 2012 3:33 pm

Both NY. I am interested primarily in litigation, possibly in real estate, but I am not entirely sure. Looking for people's opinions with regard to anything about these two firms.

When did you hear from Greenberg? A giant that is not doing so well is what I have heard about the firm. Additionally, if you look on TLS there is talk about a certain partner that is a notorious meany, but I am willing to bet tons of these stories are exaggerated. Personally, I like Greenberg a lot, knowing a few of their attorneys from non-NYC offices, but I recognize their reputation is not great. Also recent capital call.

Go to Chadbourne bro... out of all of my callbacks, GT gave me by far the worst impression.

Looking at the Chambers rankings... for your stated interests.

Greenberg: Band 1 General Commercial Litigation: Highly Regarded, Band 1 Real Estate: Mainly Dirt
Chadbourne: Band 3 (same as above), Not ranked in real estate

The partner notorious partner that came over is in M&A. That beings said, fit is more important.

Without checking, I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and say Greenberg is not, in fact, Band 1 in NY
Checked: It's band 1 for the "Highly Regarded" Band. So this is correct (Chadbourne is in fact Band 3 for that).

OP here. I'm not entirely sure what these means, but:

Litigation: General Commercial: Highly Regarded: New York
Band 1
Allen & Overy LLP
Greenberg Traurig, LLP
O'Melveny & Myers LLP

It would be band five objectively. Chambers has it listed by "The elite" bands 1-4, followed by "Highly regarded" bands 1-3. So yes and no.
