Following up post-CB
Is it appropriate to follow up with a firm if it's been a while since your CB? Say 2 weeks?

Sure, especially if you have another offer to point to that is expiring. Even if not, it is fine to write a police email reaffirming your interest and asing where they are in their process.
However, if you don't yet have an offer, your best bet is to focus on preparing for future CBs.
