Relationship with Partner--Tipping the Balance?

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Sep 12, 2012 6:24 pm

I have been extremely fortunate to receive offers from two firms that are generally considered comparable in prestige and have similarly strong practices in areas I'm interested in.

Firm A - Loved the place, atmosphere, people, and it has a great reputation for work environment.

Firm B- Colder atmosphere and feel, BUT: I have a close relationship (think mentor-mentee) with a partner at Firm B and would really enjoy working with her, learning from her, etc. Also seems unique to go into a situation where a partner would want to work with you from the get-go and I'm not sure if I could pass that up as a career move.

If it weren't for that relationship, I'd probably go with Firm A. Any opinions on if that relationship should tip the balance in favor of Firm B, or am I assigning too much importance to it? Thank you for the responses.

PM me if you want. Went to a firm where my camp counselor is a partner...can offer some insight as I was between two good ones as well.
