News is, we all have to actually write our PMF essays now.
::cries::
I was trying to avoid that! The process for PMF is even worse...

Wow, nothing today??? Anyone contact OARM to find out what's going on? There has to be someone who was overly anxious and reached out...

Tomorrow is not a federal holiday, so we may still be called tomorrow. However, I have a feeling that it may be a bit for OCIJ because of the location preference issues. They are trying to place 58 people based on their location preferences. I can't imagine how painstaking that would be.

This. The different locations have to make the placement and selection process much more difficult. Don't give up hope, OCIJers. I think next week will be the week, if not the week after.

srsly. I'm not sure I can bring myself to do it - the topics are SO awful (and I actually want to practice law, which it seems really hard to do through PMF).
A friend of mine did the PMF and for 6 months worked at USAO as a trial lawyer during his time. I've known (and heard of) others who have worked as attorneys during their PMF, either at DOJ or at general counsel offices in fed govt agencies. This same friend got a fed COA clerkship after PMF. It's possible and not that hard to do.

I got my criminal division offer last thursday, and they told me monday that 8 of the 10 accepted on the spot, and 2 of us they were still waiting on. So I assume that all of the initial offers have gone out. Sorry just passing along the news.

Good to know, thanks! I've just seen a lot of other people around here talking about how the jobs are mostly policy jobs and attorney positions are rare. Maybe if I can dredge up some inspiration for those horrendous essay questions...

To be clear, PMF jobs are policy jobs, there are no lawyer jobs. To practice law, you have to do a temporary rotation in an attorney position, anywhere from 1-6 months.

Any mention about the AFMLF? I know they make their decisions independently of main crim, but worth a shot.

Selected as a finalist last Thursday. None of my references have been contacted. Am I definitely an alternate, or should I still hold out hope for a first-round offer?

It seems like almost everyone is in that position. I really don't see reason to freak out yet over them not contacting references.

So should I just give up and keep mass mailing firms if I'm still at "Selected for Interview" and no references have been contacted (non-litigating small hiring number component)

You're going to have to out the component probably.

Did you get labelled a finalist?

I interviewed with BOP and my status is still "Selected for Interview." I'm assuming all hope is lost since the interviewers indicated they were going to make offers fairly quickly.

I have my fingers crossed that we hear something today. If not, I hope everyone is able to put this out of their minds until after Thanksgiving so that we all have a happy one :)

I think one of the best things about the holiday is that if we don't hear anything by the end of the day today, we can stop worrying until Monday!

I am just not that optimistic that we will hear today. Too many people's references haven't been contacted. Or at least on TLS, which is basically my only means of news.

I don't think we'll hear today either. Too many people leave early for the holidays. Actually for me, I feel like my component's offers must have already gone out, but none of the offerees are on TLS. It's so depressing to realize you're an alternate right before Thanksgiving :( I'M NOT THANKFUL FOR THAT. lol

Mine is still Selected for Interview as well, and I have the same feeling as you.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
